Youth Power & Hope Awards
Indiana’s electric cooperatives and their statewide magazine, Electric Consumer, are accepting applications for awards that recognize the community spirit of Indiana’s youth.
The Youth Power and Hope Awards program honors fifth through eighth graders who are leaders in their communities. The annual recognition program emphasizes the important role young Hoosiers play in shaping their communities.
Five winners will be selected to attend a program in their honor in early December in Indianapolis. They’ll also receive $500, enjoy a free night’s stay in Indianapolis, and be featured in an upcoming issue of Electric Consumer. Past award recipients include students who have initiated a coat drive for the underprivileged, supported patients at Riley Hospital for Children, worked with special needs children, volunteered at a local animal shelter, raised money for the American Cancer Society, and more.
Applicants must submit an application, examples of how they have been involved in their local communities, and a reference letter from a trusted adult. Visit electricconsumer.org/?p=230 for an application and to learn about past award recipients. Applications are due Friday, Oct. 5. Electronic files of an entry form and a flyer that can be placed around your school have been provided as attachments to our email. We appreciate your assistance in spreading the word about the Youth Power and Hope Awards to your students. There are young people throughout the state who are truly making a difference and we look forward to recognizing them for their accomplishments.
